Here at Walkabout, we are all about helping owners find ways to enjoy their dogs while they grow and develop into ideal family members.  We know that everyone has different expectations of how their dog will become the perfect part of their family, but it is important that some rules are taught and then practiced.  We have put together some exercises so that we can award you the recognition you deserve for working with your dog. In our opinion, all dogs are good – but how good? The tests will take part in August and September – so why not practice today at home 😊

 The exercises are:

1.    being handled by someone else (checking the tag and holding on to the lead – just as if someone had found your dog and needed to read your dog’s tag to find out who they belonged to or maybe your Vet had to handle them or the kennel manager or the groomer?)

2.    recall on their own while ignoring others.

3.    stay in place for 1 minute with other dogs all doing the same. (You can keep your dog on lead and stand next to them)

4.    walk on the lead with turns and stops, showing no reaction to other people and dogs.

5.    walk through a crowd (3/4 people) with no reaction.

6.    Travel in the car quietly
